Sangiovese

Flavor Profile:

Undergoing a revolution as growers replace their vineyards with better clones. What had been hard, lean, acidic and poorly pigmented is morphing into a fragrant, fruit-filled wine with softer tannins and a rich mid-palate.

Low in extract it captures the rustic and savory flavors of the earth.  Amalgamation of herbs, baked clay and dried fruit. Tannins or dusty and gravely and acidity is pronounced. Shares flavor profiles with other Mediterranean wines but is discernible by a hint of dried orange peel.
